Climbing
In Sardinia you will find climbing routes of all levels of difficulty and for all techniques.
There is also an excellent climbing guidebook: “Pietra di Luna” by Maurizio Oviglia, who has opened many routes on the island itself.
For the eastern part of the island, “Estern Sardinia, Crags” is available.
Among sport climbers, the rocks on the Gulf of Orosei are particularly popular. Climbers are most likely to be found at Cala Fuili near Cala Gonone and at Cala di Luna. Further south, Cala Goloritze and Capo di Monte Santu are ideal.
It is the combination of climbing, bathing and sunbathing that makes the coast so attractive.
There are also interesting and little-known climbing areas in other regions of the island.
For example, the limestone cliffs around Jerzu, the vertical walls near Isili or Domusnovas as well as the karstic Supramonte area are enticing.
Those who like climbing on the steep coast have the most varied possibilities at Capo Caccia or near Nebida.
In general, the most beautiful climbing rocks are often located directly by the sea. In addition to the sporting incentive, there is also an unforgettable landscape experience.
The best times for climbing are spring and autumn.
During the winter, low temperatures and storms can ruin the pleasure.
In summer, longer climbing tours are not advisable because of the heat and intense sunlight.
At best, the temperatures are bearable in the cool morning hours or in the afternoon, for example, when the cliffs on the Gulf of Orosei are already in the shade.
The ideal time for a combination of bathing and climbing holiday is September, when the air slowly cools down again, but the sea is still enjoyably warm.
In addition to your usual climbing equipment, always take enough drinking water with you! Many of the interesting rocks are far away from the next village.
