Accommodation
The type of accommodation you choose depends primarily on your personal preference and, of course, your wallet.
You can choose between campsites, hotels of all price categories, holiday flats and holiday houses as well as agriturismo – a kind of “holiday on the farm”.
Private room rentals and bed & breakfasts are becoming increasingly common in Sardinia.
Most accommodation is available on the coast. In the interior, the offer is rather limited – there is simply less demand here.
Generally speaking, prices skyrocket during the high season (July/August). The rent for a holiday flat, which is 350 € per week at the beginning of May, can climb up to 1,400 € in August.
In the early and late season, on the other hand, you can sometimes get a bargain.
Accommodation for the high season should also be booked in advance. The most attractive offers are often already taken half a year in advance.
For those who want to travel a lot around the island, camping with a camper van, caravan or tent is the best solution. Holiday flats and houses are usually only rented out for longer periods (2 weeks or more).
Hotel room rates are quite high. You should determine your itinerary exactly and pre-book along the route.
Instead of the often overcrowded campsites or the lack of campsites in the interior of the country, you can also find pitches at agriturismo farms.
