Holiday flat
A holiday flat is by far the most frequently used accommodation option for tourists. In many places, entire stretches of land are covered with such settlements.
To be fair, however, it has to be said that these buildings blend in well with the landscape due to their architecture and colour scheme (mostly terracotta).
The biggest advantage of a holiday flat is the possibility of self-catering. The prices of the restaurants in the holiday resorts are very high, especially in high season.
Compared to hotel costs, thisholiday is much cheaper.
It should be noted, however, that especially in low season the shops and restaurants in the holiday resorts are often closed due to a lack of customers.
Therefore, when booking your flat, find out how far it is to the next supermarket. You should also ask about the distance to the beach beforehand.
Holiday flats are usually only rented for a minimum stay of two weeks, in the high season often only by month.
In low season, some organisers lure you with favourable discount offers such as “Stay three weeks – pay only two!”.
When booking, you should ask in which area exactly the flat is located. There are also huge “termite mounds” that are divided into individual flats and are completely booked out in summer. You will hardly have no rest here. If there is only 100 m of beach available for the whole complex, the fun is quickly gone. Especially on the north-east coast of stony Gallura, there are always only short sandy beaches between the rocks.
With almost all rental companies you have to bring your own bed linen and towels. Sometimes they provide them for an extra charge.
Most flats are offered on the east coast. The most popular destinations among tourists are Budoni, San Teodoro, Golfo Aranci, Santa Teresa di Gallura and the Costa Rei.
If you are travelling with several people or families with children, it may even be cheaper to book an entire holiday house.
