Plane

Munich Airport

From Munich it only takes 1.5 hours to Sardinia

Sardinia is only 1.5 to 2 hours away by plane from Central Europe.

While flights to Sardinia used to be very expensive, this has now changed somewhat due to the competition between airlines. In the low season, flights are available from €30.
Apart from such special offers, the round-trip flight from Central Europe costs about 350 €.

It is especially important to book early! This is especially true for a vacation in the high season.

If you book early, you can often save a lot of money. Sometimes it is also cheaper to fly to the Italian mainland first and then change.
Last minute offers as with other vacation islands are offered only very rarely – Sardinia is just not a typical destination for package travelers.

Olbia Airport

“Costa Smeralda” Airport, Olbia

There are four airports on the island: “Costa Smeralda”(Olbia), “Elmas”(Cagliari), “Fertilia” (Alghero) and “Arbatax” (Tortoli).
Most international flights go to Olbia, with Cagliari in second place. The airport near Alghero has become increasingly important in the recent years. “Arbatax” is almost exclusively served by flights from the mainland Italy.

I strongly advise against flying to Sardinia without any booking accommodation.
As tempting as this may be with the cheap offers on the part of the airlines – in the low season the supply of hotels and holiday flats is very limited due to lack of demand and in the high season everything is booked up quickly.
Be sure to consider how you will travel from the airport (bus, rental car).
