Regions
Unlike the provinces of Sardinia, the borders of the regions listed here are not precisely defined. On the maps available they are also marked quite differently.
The individual areas merge smoothly into one another. They are defined by geography as well as by their history and the culture of their inhabitants.
The list is also not complete, because the regions are often subdivided even further.
The classification I have chosen is mainly intended to give you an overview of the island.
The landscapes on Sardinia differ so much from each other that the island is also called “the little continent”.
Towns and villages almost all have their architectural peculiarities. Traditions, dances and traditional costumes are extremely diverse.
